I voted for buying a pack and not being interested in the main feature. I bought some of my packs that looked neat, and mostly for an occult class, or something I wanted. One example is that I wasn't really interested in Nifty Knitting for the most part, but really wanted a hairstyle from it. I pretty much bought the pack for the hairstyle, but now I like the pack. I plan to use the pack to earn extra money for my sims that don't go into careers, and if I make a Harry potter save file, I can have Molly earn money through the pack.
Most of my packs were pretty much were this pack as mermaids, vampires, mages, aliens, they are mine now. I also usually get packs for the CAS items, and not really for the build items.
