Buying packs and intentionally not using the main feature

Is it worth to buy a pack for just the CAS/build buy or some side features and completely ignore the main feature. The reason why I am wondering about this is eco lifestyle. I was debating whether...

I've a few packs gotten solely for the CAS/BB, usually on sale. There are a few others that have wound up that way because the main feature either doesn't work well or I tried & didn't like it. When it comes to packs I have 3 basic rules: research thoroughly, determine if the CAS/BB is strong enough to justify the purchase if the main feature fails, wait for sales.
