Can Sims get fired?

The only time one of my sims lost their job was when they asked the wishing well for a promotion, and it backfired. So be careful with that too.

I had a sim get fired once with fantastic work performance at the top of his field. Thank god his wife has such valuable plants or that family would've been sunk.

I haven't had any of my sims get fired. I kinda miss the random chances of getting fired D:

Which is why I'm completely vexed that a toddler aged up to child starts with an 'F'. Really? A 'C' is in the middle. A Sim can go up or down. But, starting with an 'F' is hard to overcome.

This is good to know! I was not aware that could happen

I played single sims in S3, so I stayed on top of their careers. I can't recall any of them getting fired.

S2, I was playing it the day before. I had her join the teacher career. There might have been a chance card pop up before the 3rd promotion, but I must have picked the right one, LOL. She became a substitute teacher and filled in one day, the kids were terrible. She had a chance card come up asking if she should report the teacher (who was the best?) or ? (can't remember). I figured she should report it. It said she went into the office to tell the principal and the actual teacher was in there with the principal (I think). Anyway, she reported it and it came back that the actual teacher was in good with the principal. Next thing I know, the box popped up "YOU ARE FIRED". My mouth dropped open :o

Her lifetime wish was to be in the law enforcement (I didn't think to check that the first time, because I didn't remember them having that, or where to find it). She climbed up in law enforcement pretty quick but every time a chance card comes up, I hit "ignore", LOL. S2 is definitely the most challenging of all the series, but well worth playing.

Oh, in S4, I have not had anyone get fired. I usually only play the Dr. Career, or paint and collect for a living.

It is extremely rare, and you would have to miss a lot of work or whatever. I didn't make some Sims in the doctor career even fill those tasks lists in that career and they still got promoted even if I didn't go to work with them. I would love for it to be set back to TS1 days if they miss work they get one warning back then. Next time fired. Or if late, next time fired.

it's hard because i think you have to be all the way at the bottom of your career or else you just get demoted

@Cinebar Agreed! Some challenge and/or risk is missing from this game. It shouldn't take more work for me to get them fired than promoted lol. I mean I want most of my sims to do well in their careers, but a little random conflict now and again would be lovely

My sim got fired from the astronaut career seemingly out of nowhere so I didn't realize it's difficult to get fired. I'm still kinda scarred by the whole thing because I figured it was no biggy and I'd just choose the same career and keep going but she was only able to be a space pirate instead of a real astronaut so now I'm always scared that if my sims get fired then they'll have to take up the seedy version of whatever they were doing if they want to get back into the same line of work.
