Can Sims get fired?

Pretty much the title. Can they get fired? I just realized today that I've never had a sim be fired from their job and then I started wondering if they even could? And how hard do you have to work to get them fired if it is possible... thanks

My sim got fired from the astronaut career seemingly out of nowhere so I didn't realize it's difficult to get fired. I'm still kinda scarred by the whole thing because I figured it was no biggy and I'd just choose the same career and keep going but she was only able to be a space pirate instead of a real astronaut so now I'm always scared that if my sims get fired then they'll have to take up the seedy version of whatever they were doing if they want to get back into the same line of work.

So they can't go back to the same career?! Crazy. Maybe there is a small chance of it happening even if the career performance is only a little low?

I had a sim get fired once with fantastic work performance at the top of his field. Thank god his wife has such valuable plants or that family would've been sunk.

Same. I got the same job at the same level back though

Can you explain this a little more? I've never had a Sim get fired. If your sims is fired, they can join the same career but can only reach a certainly level & not get to level 10?

There were still levels but it was different space pirate levels instead of astronaut levels. She got up to being a level 10 space pirate but I still felt cheated because I didn't want a level 10 space pirate I wanted a level 10 astronaut. I'm not sure how other careers work because I've made an effort to not let anybody else be fired.
  • Is there a way to cheat your sim back into the career path they were in before they got fired? I was having an issue with the Criminal career track... my sim was at level 6, but her aspiration (Public Enemy) wanted her to reach level 4 for the points. I figured I'd just demote her so she could get the level 4 ranking to complete the milestone, but it totally fired her from the career track. Does anyone know of a way I can get her back on track? A little upset that I've pretty much screwed her over on this front :/

In Sims 3 it was a lot easier to get fired.

    Sims 2 as well.

Which I liked better tbh. TS4 is too easy. I don't struggle to get green in the career. If a sim goes angry, sad or uncomfortable to work it doesn't seem to lower performance all that much.
  • @sophiesims94 - Carl's or SimVip's cheat explanations will help. Pull up the cheat window (Control + Shift + C), copy/paste:
    careers.promote criminal
until you're at the right level.

In the future, it's better to make your own, new thread, than to bump up one that's over a year old. The mods consider that 'necroposting.' :)

edited to put cheat command in quote format
