When I started playing the Sims 4 it was 2017 and it had just released on PS4. Since consoles don't have the gallery if I wanted a house like in a build video I would have to watch it on youtube and then recreate it. Hatsy has a 3 storey mansion in her build list for a machinima story she was doing and it took me a week irl to recreate it on ps4. I would watch for a minute, try and count squares or see how much she spent on the walls so I could do the same.
Was I crazy for doing that? Probably, but that was the only way I could get that house or any others I liked at the time.
To me, that's one of the appeals of build videos.
