Can Someone Please Explain the Appeal of Build Videos?

I used to watch build videos and it was more so for inspiration and decorating hacks I hadn't thought off. In addition sometimes it was just like a podcast as some do commentary over them.
Now I would skip to the end to see if I like the internal layout or if it's too cluttered to be placed in my game.
