Just tested this out. Didn't manage to replicate it (I think), but I made another discovery.
If your sim is becoming a werewolf, there's nothing stopping you of becoming another occult. So, you can go and become a spellcaster before the sim becomes a werewolf and you got a hybrid.
My thought is that the fury "need" isn't properly removed after getting cured or something like that...
I have noticed though that being another occult even prevents your sim getting werebies... So reading this is really strange...

I had her drink another cure, had her travel somewhere, then back home and it seemed to have fixed itself after that. I'm not sure if that will fix it for you but that's what sorted it out for me.
