In The Sims 1, they ran off screen and it was fine. I think it would be funny if they ran from down the street.
They also didn't have FireTrucks in The Sims 2 console games, or The Sims 3 Wii (which was Open World) and it was okay.
As long as they come from down the road, not right in front of the lot, it wouldn't bother me.
They should bring back the Scary Music from when you get robbed though, not the same, but just as "OMG WHATS HAPPENEDINDJHDUHSDHSD"
