Can you change cabinet/counter *after* it has been placed?

Hi all, currently doing a rags to riches with eco lifestyle where one of the rules I put on myself is no buying from the catalogue. Through dumpster diving I found some cabinets, and I know how to get the different styles and shapes when you are buying straight from, but can I change the ones I have found? I don't have enough money to sell and buy a new one since I am also only making money through the selling table when the community zone is a market (I really love myself)

    You can change the colour using the Design Tool on exisiting counters.
    I don’t personally see why this should be a problem to your challenge... you aren’t buying it. :)

    If they are burnt you first need to repair them, afterwards you can change the colour as with normal items in the catalogue, except for the furniture that you unlock through gameplay.

    Yeah changing a colour is not an issue, its just the style of cabinet such as making it one of the tall cabinets or a corner piece. Would like to avoid cheating the money to afford to swap it out (my sim has a whole 24 simoleons and the repoman gives me fear), and just would be useful to know in future if there is a command key to change the style without having to go and rebuy it.

    Turn on automatic counter placing.

    When done, turn it off. It may work for you.
