Cant afford first lot of bills as a teen lol!

Don't cheat. Just play to the best of your ability. It's really easy to get money even without a job. Some of my most entertaining game sessions were with sims who were broke.

Phew luckily the jokesters won and my sim got the 500 simoleons reward but still

painting or stealing other sims paintings off community lots as emergency solution ;)

I have this family that has bills of 14,000 in lot taxes

I just have one actor one teacher and one writer to make that cash money and I have yet to run out

though actor do be getting mad wage for the few gigs he does

I just refuse to give away their stuff :lol:

Yes, Humor & Hijinks is a good solution. Whichever side my sims choose wins, because I put some effort into telling jokes or playing pranks. Winning as a joker also gets you some fireworks and a microphone, which can be sold. I think the fireworks are worth around 340 and the microphone is worth around 150.

I have one Sim living in the Hanamigawa starter house. She's still on her first week but it looks like her bills will be around 800, with lights at the default setting, which looks like All Lights On. The current values from the mailbox are:

• Lot Taxes: -332
  
• Power: -389
  
• Water: -10
  
• Other Taxes: 0
  
• Tax Breaks & Penalties: 0
  
• Total: 731
  

I can understand how that might be a bit difficult for a single Teen as head of household. You should look into other ways of earning money if the Lifeguard job isn't paying enough. @Simmingal already suggested some but here's some other ideas.

• Build up your programming skill and win the Hackathon at the GeekCon. First prize is a computer worth about 3000.

• Build up you video gaming skill and win the Ultimate Gaming Test. The prize is a Future Cube worth about 300 and you can repeat the test to win more of them.
  
• Ask another teen for a date. The prize for a gold-level date is a VIP bucket worth 645.

or if you have strangerville do the mother plant achievement and get free future cubes in mail almost every day

Just did the UGT at GeekCon three times and discovered it has a cash prize worth 100 plus the Future Cube. That makes it worth at least 400 if your video game skill is high enough. One of my wins didn't give me a Future Cube but when my Sim got home I found a GoldiBox Gaming Console in the household inventory, worth 400.

If you have eco lifestyle, dumpster diving can be very lucrative. Do sell burnt furniture straight from the household inventory though. It sells for full price, while the value diminishes to nothing if you place it in world first.
And there's the present pile from seasons. It's a small investment, but returns are great. Just add gifts to it a couple of times. Then your sim can open a present every four hours. Some aren't very valuable, but if you get the gaming mat or the karaoke machine, those sell for a lot of simoleons. The best part is, the present pile is near impossible to deplete if you only take out a single present each time. And even if it does end up empty, you can always refill it without charge.

Lilys and snapdragons will pay your bills easily. 4 of each will be enough. You can use a garden bed to grow them indoors and harvest in all seasons.

Just sell presents you find in the gift pile you can purchase in the construction mode (interior activities). Its one of the "easy" ways to survive. But yup, they "fixed" bills for rich people but not for starters.

I have Sims search for buried treasure in Sulani or in a little patch of sand in front of the Oasis Springs park. Even toddlers can find treasures by playing in the sand!
