When did this change? Others claim to be able to get into their game while offline and I do know it was reported to be so very early on. But even trying to avoid patching until the mods I use are updated has been something I cannot do. Going offline is supposed to be one way to avoid the patch. This morning I decided to test it out. But nope, I couldn't get into my game while in that mode. I am grossly disappointed. My game will be horrifically interrupted without the mods I use in place. Generally, I can get into the game the day the patch drops, but the next day is when the door is effectively slammed shut. The patch hasn't yet dropped, folks, so what's up with that?Guess I'll play online for now. But, EA, I am NOT happy.ETA: I just figured it out, but will it work after the patch? I went into Origin and clicked on Sims4, then went offline and was able to get in. As someone who lives in a house without wifi, I can say with full confidence that there is no true offline mode, as you need to be online in order to switch Origin to offline mode. And as soon as you restart your computer, it goes back into online mode.So essentially, I have to keep my laptop on all the time in order to play The Sims 4.I believe I have on occasion run into the issue where even though I had already set Origin to offline mode, it wanted me to be connected to internet anyway.

Do you have a desktop or a laptop? I have a laptop myself, so I just use the airplane mode to go offline.Also, I just try to go on Origin (the first category in the upper left screen), click on ''offline mode'' (I don't know the actual text, because mine is in french.) and after that I launch my game offline, even if my airplane mode is not on.

I'm busy playing my game at the moment, trying to make as much headway in the story as possible before I have to set it aside until the mods required are updated. I'm still not to where I was since March of 2021, when my save got seriously broken and I had to start anew. I'm not joking.

This is what I do: I always have auto-updates turned off. I usually play offline unless I want to utilize the gallery. I launch my game from an icon on the desktop instead of messing about with launching from Origin, which if I'm understanding correctly is what you're doing. This works well for me.

As someone who lives in a house without wifi, I can say with full confidence that there is no true offline mode, as you need to be online in order to switch Origin to offline mode. And as soon as you restart your computer, it goes back into online mode.

So essentially, I have to keep my laptop on all the time in order to play The Sims 4.

I believe I have on occasion run into the issue where even though I had already set Origin to offline mode, it wanted me to be connected to internet anyway.

Do you have a desktop or a laptop? I have a laptop myself, so I just use the airplane mode to go offline.

Yes, this is what I have run into for the past two patches. I learned late that part of my problem is I had to also be in offline, not just have the autopatch turned off. This is what I do:

I've heard of airplane mode with a laptop, but this is a gaming rig. :open_mouth: Where on Earth do I find this airplane mode on a gaming rig?

I play on a gaming desktop. It has airplane mode just like laptops. It's ridiculous, but it's there. It should be accessible from Settings if it's not from the task bar.

That is the same way I play offline. Step 4 is optional for me though, I only go back online with the game open if I need the gallery. I could use gallery items that were created before the update I was avoiding.

Strange, I don't see the update at all. How can I tell if it updated automatically? Hmmm. I think I did change a setting for Origin to update automatically but I didn't think that was for Sims games, just origin itself.

Already done. But I have to be able to call up the game which requires me to be in online mode. Are you suggesting that is when I switch to offline?

My steps:
1.) Log into Origin (automatically in online mode)
2.) Go offline in Origin (after logging in)
3.) Go to My Library and select Sims 4 to play game
3a) If, for whatever reason, it tries to get you back online to play or the library page won't load correctly while offline and you can't find the play button on the Origin Library listings...
Go down to your lower screen tabs. Right click on the orange Origin icon/tab and at the top it should list your recent games (Sims 4 being likely one of them if not the only one). Select it and it'll start up the game. You can do this in offline mode.

You do not need to be online to play, just online to check into Origin. Sometimes Origin may need you to re-log in but you can just go back to step #2 and just go offline once you logged in.

ETA: Moments later Windows crashed. I had to get back into my game and I used the steps given. Yay, it worked!
