Can't Host a Wedding in a Generic Venue?

Maybe you could set it to a community lot and see if that works? Play with the different lot types.

Also noticed that the game seems to let you choose venues from your guests houses, so perhaps you could move a sim in, invite them to the wedding then select their new home as the venue. Then kick them out when you're done, if you feel like it.

It let me pick the museum, so maybe you could flag it as that? Just sick an easel somewhere.

Generic lots can't be used for weddings. It s best to make it a park.

When the Sim I was playing got married I chose 'The Lounge' and then during the event I built a quick kitchen by sticking in some counters, a stove and fridge because I didn't realise you need to bake your own wedding cake d'oh. After all that effort, when everything was going just swimmingly - maxed green bar, all to-do's ticked - I went and stupidly ended the event early *bigger D'OH* so the poor Sim just got some sort of reward thing. I was so frustrated at my stupidity I haven't been back to check what the Sim actually got. :(

EDIT: It censored my word which was just a synonym for silly :o and I forgot to add that the Sim then got a want/whim to visit 'The Lounge' again except it doesn't exist in my world - go figure.

Until we get a "visitors allowed" type of lot without requirements it's best to pick a lot type with the fewest and just seal off the stuff you don't want to be used. For example I built a park with a pool and walled off the jungle gym, monkey bars and chess table, the other requirements work as part of the overall design.

What would happen if a player built a gigantic shed...LOL? We could stick all the unwanted objects in there.

Is it possible to throw a wedding party at a residential lot? I think you can throw a dinner party at other sims' houses. If so, maybe build a "private" wedding venue, and if someone needs to live there, just move in a random caretaker.

What I did is just set it as park and then used the bb.moveobjects on cheat to shrink down all the objects tiny and then hide them in a bush. It worked out fine.
