Can't make changes outside of owned area
I am trying to redecorate my house and keep getting the "Can't make changes outside of owned area" message. I own the lot so why am I getting that message?

Screenshots would be helpful. :)- Are you sure the lot isn't set to Residential Rental instead of just Residential. I made that mistake when I set a lot to Residential Rental and then decided I wanted to wait to set up rental areas.

Good call. Another option could be to set it to generic and see if that is still a problem, then to residential if not.
