Career hopper perk doesn’t seem to work for get to work career

Hi one of my 5 star celeb has career hopper perk. He joined scientist career. I joined to his workplace too. He didnt get promoted. The other 5 celeb sim got promoted every work days at entertainer career and social media career. Will this perk work if I send him alone to the science lot?
