The not being able to see needs is not that bothersome since they act like real pets. For instance, when they're hungry they whine or bark, when they have to pee my dog goes by the door and whines, when they want attention they do things that animals do to get attention, and they give away indicators of their needs through their behaviors.
I have not had any issues so far so you can't just judge the game by other peoples issues. Some people don't have issues some people do.. It is always like this no matter if its Sims 1, 2, 3 or now. I have been here for all of the releases of every single pack and it has never been bug free.
