CC clothes & Seasons

I doubt it. It's probably going to be something that will need to be addressed from the side of S4S.

I think either it will assume anything under tank tops and shorts etc are summer clothing or it will break current CC clothes. I don't think CC clothing will matter in Spring/Fall but I think current CC clothing won't actually be considered Winter/Summer clothing without adding in a tag outside of game. I just can't see current CC actually working with a heating and cooling system and if people can tag things themselves then they could still wear winter coats in the summer which would defeat the point of overheating.

I’m sure you’re both right, wishful thinking on my part. It’s a shame to waste a great feature (removing the filters/restrictions) though, that has been my favorite part of TS4 so far. I’m not super worried as I only really use CC formal wear (just a personal style thing for me). The hair breaking on the other hand would just be devastating :#

With CAS already having clothing categories (sweaters, t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, pants, etc) I think that could save a lot of CC from breaking. I don’t know how many new outfit categories are being added, but it should be simple enough to merge existing content. For example winter wear would import any clothing item tagged as a “jacket” or “coat” - similarly any other outfit category could choose the appropriate tags and import all available clothing from “everyday”. I don’t think summer will get a new outfit category which is why I believe the item tags are going to play a big role in what is considered temperature appropriate clothing.

according to one of the Grus that the CC clothing wouldn't break since the clothing will keep your sims hot/cool

It was confirmed theres a cold and hot category in CAS so if you put on a bikini under the cold weather category it will keep them warm. That's my understanding from what they've mentioned of it.

I hope that’s the case, it would be fantastic for story telling purposes. I wonder how the other clothing categories will work now too? For example will a Sim overheat at an outdoor summer wedding, or will the formal wear category give no effect?

i dont think outfit categories like shorts or jackets would be considered warm, cold, neutral as a whole. where would you put all pants, shoes, hats...

likely it is a tag for especially light or warm clothing only, all cc considered neutral. i doubt it but it would be great if we can change the tag on clothes ingame.
my hope is that its a mix and match system anyway, so the more warm items you wear the better protected you are against cold, same for summer clothes no overheating for wearing a baseball cap.

while i like the idea of simply saving a warm and cold outfit its impractical as the npcs need categorized items to not act too weird with this freedom.

shorts-to keep cool in summer. Jackets=warm to keep you warm.

I kind of hope it works like the bathing suits, NPCs/game made townies wear items from the filter, but when you edit them or make your own Sims you can remove the filters.
