Changing bait while fishing

Question

Is there a way to change bait immediately after you run out of one bait other than stopping fishing and choosing to fish with bait again?  It is really annoying that nothing pops up to let you switch bait on the fly immediately after you run out of bait.

Treat it as an opportunity to talk to your fishing buddy as you can't talk while fishing :)

Unfortunately, no. I haven't seen a way to switch baits other than quitting and getting more bait.
