So I'm focusing on my kids' character values, you know making sure they all have the best possible characters when they become young adults and it dawned on me.. what if I actually had a bad child? 😲 I mean, what if one of them truly was just a little monster, the type that leaves the toilet seat up and or worse doesn't take his shoes off in the house! 😱 How could it be, really?So my question is do you allow children to have bad characteristics?

My kids all get high character values and earn the permanent positive rewards traits when they age up to young adult.

Wow that's insanely bad. I mean, I can see job performance and mood issues but that sim just seems dawned to a life of never EVER getting a break...EVER. I definitely don't want that. What if this sim tried an evil job? Does he even suck at being bad?How does he survive???

Yeah, I guess. Of course neither Corbin nor Rohan (his husband) have ever had a traditional job. They make all of their money on gardening. They make 16k to 18k per day just on gardening. But still, it just seems beyond extreme.

Like I did in RL with my own three kids, I try to bring out the best in each of my Simmies. So, yes, I do attempt to get their values in. With the Toddlers, they just seem to level up on their skills without much help. But, you do have to work at teaching them to say sorry and learn to say please and thank you.I've yet to play a Sim who is downright evil. I used to give each Sim in my household one negative trait. It was far easier when we had five slots in Sims3. For instance, my Sim is a Genius, but he's also a Goofball. In Sims three this same Sim had the added attraction of being clumsy. Yet, he rose to the top of his chosen career. He became a World Renown Surgeon. (And I can hear you asking, how can a clumsy Sim become a surgeon, let alone a World Renown one?) LOL That's the Sims for you. Oh, and he was also Childish.

I would love for them to have some negative character values but it is almost impossible to achieve that. You'll get the positive ones in the blink of an eye though.

I also haven't tried all of them yet. My favourite so far has probably been uncontrolled emotions, because my erratic spellcaster got it and I played her as quite a whimsical, vindictive and wild person :)

This is what I wad wondering about. If people do try to actively balance things out. This is a good example.

I've had a game where a teen got the rebellious trait.. It wasn't too bad. That being said, I havent too much with trying to raise kids wrong, even if I tend to age up fast.

I think I may make my alien son insensitive since, you know sim probing and such and my vampire son uncontrolled emotions because of blood frenzy issues.

I don't know which negative I should try with my merman son or my human son. Any suggestions?

Keep in mind that the youngest children in any of my saves are teens...but oh yeah, they are terrible. As in flunking out of school, hanging out at bars, and causing trouble wherever they can

Oh yes, I have intentionally sabotaged the character values more than once since I don't want every freaking sim to be the same. Good mannered and responsible especially since those two get easily maxed without any conscious effort from me (I play with long life span). I actually ended up downloading "Parenthood hard mode" mod since I got annoyed how much effort sabotaging the values actually took lol.

Yeah, that's where my head's at on this issue. Not everybody is going to be angelic. Some of us have little devils in our brains. And how could you even play a storyline involving an extramarital affair with a sim who is maxed out in empathy? Wouldn't that sim feel so overly burdened with guilt at the mere thought of betraying their partner that they couldn't do it?

Most of the time I work on responsibility, manners and emotional control but occasionally I have a sim go down the opposite path.
