Chestnut Ridge is not in the American Southwest
It gets cold and snows. So where is this supposed to be, more like the plains? Colorado?

Having lived in the Tucson area, in winter, can say this is not the geographic features or weather. The place is far too green & foresty and the reported snow is not a Sonora thing. I'll vote for the more northerly and higher up Colorado.
