Chestnut Ridge is not in the American Southwest
It gets cold and snows. So where is this supposed to be, more like the plains? Colorado?

All I can say is that is does snow in Phoeniz, AZ. Chew on that one for a moment. There are two types of desert; High and Low. High deserts get snow, Low, not so much. But, I agree, Chestnut Ridge? doesn't look very American Southwest at all. I have to agree with @elanorbreton, it's Sim Land and likely has elements from around this RL world we call Earth. Or Montana as somebody mentioned above. I never saw the Live-Stream I was on the road that day.
