Hmm, not sure if it will apply just to the kid. I had my Sim make a townie pregnant too. She was not a homeless and had a house so that I knew she wouldn't just vanish one day. I didn't feel like having the baby around either lol. This was before toddlers but I wouldn't want the toddler either, ahem. So I just invited the mom plus kid once the baby aged up occasionally. I invited the mom to stay the night and the child stayed too. Not sure if you can just invite the child. I know a child can ask another child for a sleepover.. so maybe adult/child will work too, especially if they are related? It would be interesting to find out.

If you have Get Together you could try to make a club with your Sim and his kid. Make the club activites things the kid can do at your house (watch tv,friendly interactions with group,play with toys,sleep,etc) and I think after awhile he may go home but you can just start the group gathering again and the kid should show up immediately.

I would love to see this implemented into the game somehow as well. Maybe a phone call where the mom or dad can ask the kid if they want to come spend the weekend with them or something but I doubt it will ever happen.

I have used the club rules before as mentioned above it does work quite well! The club rules are also very helpful when you to GF with inactive sims to keep them from wandering off for the entire trip.

Yep, this is something I would like too. Like if you have sims in different households have a baby together, once the baby is born, you get a pop up asking where you want the baby to live. And have the option to ask over for the weekend on the phone menu.
Child support should be added along with this. Child support payments can be treated just like bills. Pay by phone or mailbox. If they don't pay up, weekend visits can be taken away.

It does have the Child Support feature! You can set the percentage and it is added to the household bills. If the kid is living with your sim your sim gets the money and vice verse.
