Child custody

So I know there is not official child custody in the game but my sim got one of the townies pregnant. I want the baby/toddler to stay with the mom (non active) because I don't feel like taking care of a toddler. My sim dad will go visit the mom and his kid. However, when the toddler ages to kid, I may want him around with the dad more...but to reman inactive. Is there a way to keep the sim non-active but in my house for a weekend? Does the "invite to stay the night" option come up for kids?

I suggest .. ( if u have get together ) make a lil club for child and dad and make the clubhouse at dad's house ..whenever u wanna see ur kid ..start gathering ..when u want kid to leAve end gathering

Make the club activites things the kid can do at your house (watch tv,friendly interactions with group, play with toys, sleep, etc) and I think after awhile he may go home but you can just start the group gathering again and the kid should show up immediately.

Great idea to make a club! I never thought of that. I assume though the kid won't go to sleep if I keep the club meeting active for two sim days?

If you make sleep as the club activity at night and the little one has a bed, he should sleep.
  • Funny enough, I was going to have my sim go to the moms house to visit his son, but when i clicked on the son's picture in my sims relationship panel...it gave me the option for the son to "hangout at current lot". So yes, the game allows a toddler to travel from Newcrest to San Myshuno all by himself. haha!

Invite to stay over is a romantic interaction and it's pretty broken.

Not with the Mc Command Center Mod, its a friendly action. I actually forgot it is actually a romance interaction...lol

I have used the club system for this. I will also move the children into the house for the weekends to simulate weekend visits.
  • Yeah, it isn't all that hard to add them temporarily to the household with TS4. So I usually just go that route, and do it for a couple weeks to make it worthwhile.

I'm also really glad they added sleeping to the Club Activities. They will almost always sleep, then, if they're tired, and there is a bed. I use it all the time to simulate sleepovers. I just add it for the specific time I want, then remove it again, so they aren't trying to do it at other functions.

I would love to see this implemented into the game somehow as well. Maybe a phone call where the mom or dad can ask the kid if they want to come spend the weekend with them or something but I doubt it will ever happen.

I have used the club rules before as mentioned above it does work quite well! The club rules are also very helpful when you to GF with inactive sims to keep them from wandering off for the entire trip.

GF = Granite Falls/Outdoor Retreat, correct? Can you have a Club Gathering there, now? It wasn't possible last I knew, but that would be great if it was!

I know the Group function does work, tho. Sometimes, in case NPCs wander off when you've invited them on vacation, I just put them in a Group right away. Then I click the ground and select Go Here Together if I can't find them later on. If they don't show up, that means they've gone Home for some reason, but it does work if they're still in the world.
  • You could always lock the child in the house, should you wish. Cause that's legal.

If you have GT, set up a group with your Sim and his offspring. Then when you want him to come over you can do Start a Group Gathering. You could add as Club Activities things like Eat, Bathe and Shower and Sleep, maybe Watch TV and/or Do Homework. Then whoten you're ready for the kid to go home you can end the gathering. You won't be able to do other group activities during that time though.
