It's more restricting on my stories. Child sims can already only die from very few things. I had a story where someone lost their kid by drowning, while another family had wishes for a kid and that kid's ghost came out of the well. Little things.
fun fact: Toddlers not being able to die from fire is actually explained in the lore. In the sims 2 there is a statue of a woman who was killed in a fire after forgetting her food in the oven for too long. Her ghost actually watches over babies and toddlers and protects their skin from the flames.
Yet I have burned babies numerous times in the Sims 4 given the loophole that babies are an object not an actual life stage. Also please they don't stop this unless they suddenly decide to make babies free and their own life stage like toddlers that can be edited in CAS.
