Clock Speed

I read on Reddit that changing the clock speed can improve gameplay, and saw that reducing it would improve gameplay. So, I went in MCCC settings and reduced it from 25 to 75 milliseconds per Sim second. All I can say is that I'm not going back. That little detail has fixed a lot of my problems with the game.

First of all, the doctor career. Usually, I rarely did well. I couldn't even do enough to get the bronze level for the daily tasks, and was lucky if I got ONE patient diagnosed and treated by 9 PM. By the normal 7 PM finish time, I was able to get two patients diagnosed and treated, a third partially, and my Sim was able to introduce himself to his coworkers. It would even better if the nurse, receptionist, and second (NPC) doctor actually did something; but I doubt that's gonna happen without a pack refresh.

Dine Out is another one of my major frustrations. It often takes an entire day/night to go to a restaurant, get seated, eat a full meal, and pay for it. This time, two hours.

@cody6268 I've had that setting on for a long while. I can't play without it anymore. Mine is set to 50. I like that my sims actually have time to go places and it's not just go to work fill needs and sleep. I tried playing with it off when I was waiting on MCCC to update and everything felt so rushed.

One thing I will note is that your calendar times will be off schedule for about two sim weeks. School, festivals, etc. It will sort itself out though. That doesn't happen if you play on a new save though.

Of course, I don't want to spoil your fun and if you find that feature helpful, thanks for the credits.

But as MCCC support team captain, I should warn you. We've seen a lot of confused Sim 4 gamers in our support struggling with especially this setting.

Adjusting the Game Time Speed (GTS) within MCCC settings is a feature that comes with some risks!

Anything in-game that uses a timeline or time-sensitive triggers - such as Seasons, holidays, and active careers - will not work as designed, causing gameplay issues and may even cause errors/exceptions in your game! That's because the core Sims 4 game doesn't support changing the game time speed, so anyone using that takes the risk on themselves that issues might happen.

MCCC has this setting for people who are interested in that feature, but it is not something we recommend for regular playing.

To change it back to the default 25, use this path on a computer:
Computer:MCCC > MCCC Settings > Gameplay Settings > Game Time Speed
  • I loved the mod from NRaas that allowed for the time to be changed, in Sims 3. My Sim was always late for his concerts, even if I sent him off to the venue in what should have been enough time. Lately, in Sims4, a whole day will elapse when doing simple things. There is no time to explore and have some fun. I was going to create a thread to discuss this issue when I came across this one. I did notice in Sims3, that the mod I used made going to a party moot, as it did mess with the timeline of other events. But the speed of time in the Sims 4 is aggravating to say the least. (And I've never been a clock-watcher in the game. So, I get stung by it more often than not. OI.)

My bread and butter as well. But it doesn't work the same in 4, time isn't changed relative to interactions so a shower will still take X minutes, and well if your minutes are now 3 times as long... It also pushes out calendar events and starting times for parties etc. Too bad there's no way to make it like nraas relativity :disappointed:
  • Ah, me. That just too bad @Ninoosim. Lately, it almost seems as if the clock is going at a faster rate, then previously. Or maybe it's just me. :open_mouth:
