It's been a while since I've played my scientist save. I remember though I'd be able to clone successfully maybe 4-5 times before the cloning machine fails to work. 'Tinkering' may help reset it and maybe maxing out the handiness skill would help as well? Hopefully someone else can suggest something. If there's a way to make them work 100% of the time, that would be terrific.
