Collectors' Plates in Household Inventory

As far as I could figure out, these were gifts that were received in the mail for birthdays. I'm really not sure though

Yeah, my Sim received one as a present for some party or birthday or something. I have Parenthood.

I never thought about it before, but birthdays would make sense since I always end up with tons of them in legacies where I play out of a single household. Some of the festive gifts in seasons and the postcards from exploring rodents all end up in the household inventory too.

One question: Are these golden? Please describe them.

They are decorated plates on little stands that you can put on the dressser and other places. They have a variety of different patterns and look like they were hand painted. Some of the recolours are clearly meant to be kids' work.

Just clicked on one of the ones my current household earns and found out that it has the Parenthood icon in Buy mode. I still don't know what triggers them though. :(

Parenthood. I think some are supposed to be made by your child.

At school? I've got a child and teen in my household at the moment and neither is in the scouts but the teen did go volunteering. I haven't yet tracked a pattern to the plates yet.

I dunno, I only get toys in the mail for birthdays.. I’ve been getting these plates too but I don’t know why either.

I had 2 plates at the time of asking the question and had 2 babies age to toddler and a toddler age to child around a similar time, so perhaps it was related to birthdays.
