Controlling N.A.P.s in other neighbourhoods

I'm coming around to some of the Neighborhood Action Plans. I have even decided it can be a good thing to have to keep an eye on the mailbox and out-vote the NPCs. Certainly I find that a bit more fun and realistic over just voting in whatever with the only voice that counts.

Anyway, what I didn't like in my game was travelling just one neighborhood over for a date at the local bar only to find "We Wear Bags" obviously in effect and the date ruined by the stupid paper bag heads (including the inactive Sim that was my Sims date, ugh!)

Is there a way to ban certain NAPs or to otherwise control NAPs in neighborhoods outside the active household??? Waiting with baited breath for help. Please and Thank you.

  • I just cheat away any that sneak in without my input, but you can also temporarily take control over any sim that lives in that neighborhood to have them petition to repeal the NAP in question. If it's a commercial area with no residences, you might have to go a more creative route to repeal it, though. :o
  • I have NPC voting off, so NAPs aren't put in place where I don't put them. You don't have to cheat it this way either. The only meta control I know is NPC voting or NAPs themselves off, but cheating is the answer for more detailed and micromanaged control.
  • Might be easier to just change the location for the date if you find such NAPs in effect as We wear bags. You cannot control them in neighbourhoods you don't actively play in, and once in effect they actually affect all neighbourhoods, so you're better off disallowing NPCs from voting on them.
  • Thanks Folks. May just consider turning off NPC voting. :p

Yeah, I did that after giving the regular voting a go just to see how it would... go. Ugh. But I still have some older saves from before I had Eco Lifestyle, and I sometimes forget to turn voting off before I enter the save for the first time since I got that EP. Cheats work well, though, so it's no big deal for me.
  • I always turn the voting off on my saves. They cause too much problems, especially "sharing is caring". I had the NAPs on in few of my saves at first, but whenever sharing is caring was active in a neighborhood the community lots were robbed to the point of them becoming unplayable and I had to turn them off. I'm not a builder, so I couldn't fix the lots, I didn't even know everything that was missing. I had to download the lots back and it got really annoying.
Now I just turn the voting off every time I start a new save. It's sad, because I actually like some of the NAPs.
  • Zero makes some great mods for controlling the naps. If you're playing on PC I would definitely reccomend. The we wear bags for example Zero has made it so that even if it's voted in no sims wear bags.
  • You don't need a mod. Just turn it off in settings. Want to have only certain NAPs without others? When you turn off NAPs, only the ones you vote for will ever become active.
