Controlling sims with arrow keys

I remember the sims 2 on console allowed you to control your sim with the analog stick instead of constant point and click. it was fun. im not sure if ide want that on the PC. but its an idea ive never really thought of.

They should do something similar for TS4. The camera follows your Sim around and the mouse becomes context-sensitive.

I must confess, the routing issues won't be gone (Console-controlled Sims are controlled like the Pc controls), but I r-e-a-l-l-y like the idea! :thumbup:

i thought about that but at least we could move playable sims fluently

I really hate keyboard controlled games. It would annoy the heck out of me.

I just want good routing.

I only like keyboard controls like that in a game where I'm sort of playing AS the character I'm controlling. I would HATE those controls for a PC sims game. I don't nor do I want to feel like I'm playing as a certain character, I'm controlling them. Also I like to play more than one sim at a time and I like to queue up actions for everyone and then let them go through those interactions while I'm maybe focusing on another sim or whatever. I feel like direct keyboard control like that would make the game feel more limited.

Good idea! The new art style would go great with the feature. :shock:

I'd just want it to be an option. I sometimes get bored with the auto-walk (to the other side of the world just so they can drink juice), so I'd like to mix it up and directly control them. :)

Good routing is also important IMO. But it would be like the consoles: both ways to control (direct via arrows, and classic via clicking objects) are included and it would be easy to switch controls in game, so you can combine both of them to get the best results. That way it's also possible to not use direct controls.

I hate to sound stupid, but what routing issues are there... :oops: ?
I don't know whether I like the arrow idea, will it still be easy to play more than one Sim? I just don't know.
