'cook together with' interaction

Hello, recently I've been playing the sims 4 and found a new interaction,'cook together with'. How does this work? Should I make a group with other sim to do this? Because I got a visitor today and my sim tried to cook together with that visitor. The visitor is a young adult man with high cooking skill but I can't control him. I asked him to cook together with my sim, but the visitor keep standing in the kitchen and my sim is doing all cooking process. Is it supposed to be like this or ..? I tried 2 times on the fridge and on the counter. Neither made the visitor do cooking actions.

  • @GalacticGal I've had it work well with two or three Sims if their kitchen has an island like the one in your screenshot. I've also seen the "fail" when the lead Sim has finished cooking before their assistant reaches the kitchen because of a routing issue, and the "cheering section" scenario when two Sims whom I invited to cook with my playable Sim stood back and cheered him on while he prepared the meal.

One of the supporters has set fire to her stove twice in my save, so perhaps she made the right choice.

That’s what I’ve seen with my other played sim. I couldn’t control as he was not under my control. There was Nothing on the 6 empty counters. There was No wall decoration in the kitchen. Even I don’t usually place any decorative counters or wall cabinet either. I built the house with very simple route like a matchstick case but my other played sim didn’t do anything.

My active sim’s cooking and gourmet cooking skills are both 10 and the other one has the same skill points but didn’t work. No wall decos, Nothing on the 6 empty counters. The participants for cooking were only him and my active sim but didn’t work while my played sim was inactive. The day before yesterday, my played sim visited with a very sad face. I couldn’t leave him as inactive any more. Finally, I added him into my active household. After that, I asked my R sim cooking with him, and then he started cooking together. The house is the exactly same house and the same kitchen but he started participating in cooking after joining in my active household.

Is there any advantage if the children can participate in cooking together, such as they can head start in cooking skill when they grow up to teens?
  • It increases their mental skill. I don't know if they learn cooking once that is level 10 because I don't have any kids at that level yet.

    Thanks a lot.:D

  • I've tried this maybe 5 times in total with no success. Tried with different households in different kitchens and I usually try to get the parents of a family to cook together. They usually don't even react, so I don't even get one Sim to start cooking. I don't think its a kitchen counter issue though as I have also tried this in kitchens with plenty of counter space. I gave up on this but would absolutely love for my parent to be able to cook with their children.

I think this randomly works. I moved into a new house with bigger kitchen without any decorations on the wall and counters, but this time, only leader sim cooked it entirely and the other sim just standing at the empty counter until the leader sim finishes cooking. I even didn't get 'cooked together' moodlet either but whole potion was 12.

  • I’ve used “Join Cooking” to help a sim who was already cooking and it worked. Is there more than one way to cook together?

So, multiple sims are actually supposed to be doing the cooking animation? I thought it just worked like in my game, aka one sims cooks, and the other is standing next to them talking :D

The kitchen in my current household is tiny, but I cleared all appliances before I tried having my sims cook together. There were at least 2 fully empty counters, not even next to one another, so I don't see how the problem would be linked to not enough space but oh well. I'm gonna attempt this today one more time but I wouldn't be surprised if that's an interaction intended to only work in huge kitchens, my sim houses tend to be small.

That's how it works in my actual kitchen. lol

They might need huge kitchens...I know in the one mansion I have it always works and they even do it autonomously. Most of my houses are tiny, though, so it doesn't work most of the time.
  • All 3 are currently cooking and there is enough counter space for all to help.
