- I saw the chicken/watering canfountain right away. LOVE it.
- mikamakimonNew SpectatorI just love how natural the pond looked in that fishing scene with the wading toddler. It was so green with plants, and there was a turtle on a log!
I'm also excited to see the current plants growing alongside the new crops in the large plots coming with the pack. I was afraid we'd only be able to grow the oversized crops in them
Just editing to add, after I've rewatched the trailer, I realized there are already so many mushrooms in the game. We have the basegame mushroom, the morels from Outdoor Living, and this new pack has the oversized mushroom and multi-coloured ones shown in the trailers. Why are there so many now, and what purpose do they serve? Will the basegame mushroom and oversized mushroom be interchangeable in recipes? I wish they chose a different oversized veggie now instead of mushrooms, something we don't have yet in the game (maybe corn, brocolli, cucumber, beets)?? I'm guessing the coloured ones affect moods, like the berries from Jungle Adventure? But it seems we have so many items in game now that affect moodlets, unless these will be for the farm animals? - Interested in seeing folks create off the grid simple living homes. So some Eco Lifestyle things may work well with this pack for a true country living feel.
- I hope the blonde male sim in the trailer is a premade

That reminds me, isn't there a ring of mushrooms already in Britechester? So even more mushrooms now, and still no fairies, lol
The fairies are there, we just can't see them... - SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranI love all the cool historical CAS, build objects & gameplays. This is so going to be fun. :p

Ok, I so love that children can knit, will be able to stitch & help with cooking. What I don't get is why they still can't do paintings? In sims 3, children could always do paintings.
They have all the children’s tables where they can draw and color "Amapola76;c-17923039" wrote:

Kind of, yes. But... people have been asking for canning and asking for cross stitching, and they gave them to us.
I'm not sure there would have been any logical way to make either of them that didn't recycle a bit from previous skills, and I'd still much rather have them than not.
That's true, but it doesn't really give a good impression on the pack when a quarter of the trailer is spent showing off recycled content
I understand what you're saying. But on the other hand, all food is recycled content in one sense, but I still love getting new recipes in every pack. All clothes are recycled content in a sense, but people anxiously await the CAS reveals. We already have chairs and tables and ovens and beds, etc., but that doesn't make me any less curious about what new styles we will get for each pack.
That's not to say I don't also want entirely brand new content. But I feel like this pack delivers on that pretty well. The chickens, cows, and llamas alone are completely new gameplay; it may not be gameplay that's interesting to you, but it is new.
I never said there wasn't new gameplay? I said there was animals which do the job for those who are interested, but in my personal opinion it's not 40 dollars worth there for a few basic animals and some recycled gameplay elements."Onverser;c-17922725" wrote:
A lot of talk and not much content really. A whole 30 seconds of waffle about canning which is pretty clearly just herbalism recycled, cross stitching is blatantly just knitting recycled, more plant/gardening options that actually look like plants instead of bushes is nice but could've been an update, the animals sort of do the job for those interested but otherwise meh. Seemed a real struggle for them to make just 4 minutes worth of video on this pack which isn't a great sign :#"Onverser;c-17922725" wrote:

It's fine if the pack doesn't interest you, but this isn't accurate. Just saying that something is recycled doesn't make it so. Does the activity do the same thing, use the same animations and/or have the same properties? If not, then it is not recycled. In response to your point, cross-stitching in the pack comes with 34 new designs which can be displayed or hung on the wall, plus cross-stitching from reference for even more unique designs. The animations from what I have seen look completely different, with sewing motions and the sticking of a needle in fingers, and are nothing like the knitting animations. Nifty Knitting is actually one of my favourite packs and it has many different products, decorative, and useable, as well as a new aspiration, some of which can be unlocked in CAS, as well as an Etsy-like selling market. Cross-stitching will have both different products and new animations from knitting.
The same point applies to herbalism and canning, leaving aside the fact that we had canning in both the Sims 1 and the Sims 3, and it is more likely they are bringing back a popular feature from earlier games that players have been asking for, than simply reusing a niche activity from an early GP. The animation for herbalism involves a sim stirring a small saucepan on a stovetop or a grill with the requirement of certain ingredients in your sim's inventory. The animations for making jams and conserves look more involved to me, with yes a saucepan stage but also a step that apparently involves sealing the jars in a large crockpot. If anything, herbalism reuses general cooking animations, just as canning seems to do too. However, with the new group cooking options, probably the whole family will be able to help with canning (which is how it worked in my house growing up), and to me this suggests new and different gameplay from what we've had before. Presumably the jams and preserves will also be useable as ingredients in a wide number of recipes, edible on their own and (hopefully) spreadable on the baking and pastry items already in the game. So they will obviously do more than cure a buff caused by a toxic plant or an insect bite.
I think they haven't revealed everything that is happening in this pack even in this latest gameplay trailer. For instance, what is going on with that demonic-looking red-eyed chicken that was briefly shown in the trailer? How many new harvestables and recipes will be included? How will the lot challenges work (which also seem to involve new gameplay)? What kinds of errands will there be, and how will the Finchwick fair and its competitions work? I am glad the embargo is lifting early as I intend to watch a lot of gamechanger videos to find out even more than this trailer showed.
