another sad song....EA needs to make money off this game.

I think a lot of simmers already know about this from when the reaper quest started. I tried to give advise about this a month ago and I got yelled at. LOL! 🙂
The thing is most simmers don't want to mess with their gaming files let alone mods in order to play a 10+ year old game unless it is the only option they have..
I don't have a problem with your suggestions; however a lot of builders use the gallery and might have a problem avoiding the gallery every time these events occur.
Cutting features from the game is not a replacement for these in game challenges/ads for most simmers.
People just want to play the game and buy the DLC when it's right for them... not forced.
I'm happy that simmers can get free DLC from the in-game challenges/ads.
Not everyone wants this including me because I can buy the DLC or download cc whenever I want it. 🙂

Brilliant! I still wish there was an easier option that didn't mean disabling the gallery, but this is much better than nothing. Truth be told I don't mind the events as such, I just want a way to choose to participate or not as I please.

Scenarios would be the perfect version of this. You could make it limited in time which they seem so utterly fond of doing, add this kind of event gameplay and I could opt in by starting the scenario, and opt out by ignoring it. Win-win.

I don’t play these forced events because I don’t need any more content, free or not. In 10 years just imagine all the content in game. Half of it’s probably never been used and how packed your computer is with all the stuff, especially when you have all the packs and and cc+ if you are a CC user. How much more can this game take? Just look at the bug reports. It gets more and more with each pack instead of less. I think it’s about time to come to an end and let the people play their game as they please. 10 years are more than enough for a game built on an old engine, broken and buggy.

It's true that I do not have to play, per say, but playing or not, I got that grim reaper icon in the middle of the game, with a panel that opened up every time I switch characters, that overlapped holiday or party panels and which blinked to remind me there was something to do. Since I did NOT participate last time, it didn't go away on November 19th, there were hings still for me to do, I just didn't want to do them.
What I am asking for is for a way to opt out of of the challenges that I do not want to do. I don't mind the gameplay, I don't mind others doing this, but I want to choose if a particular challenge is for me or not. I do not think that is being overly negative, that's giving honest and constructive feedback. - Plumbeeb9 months agoRising Hotshot
I'm looking forward to it! I had a pretty good experience with the Reaper's Rewards event, and it ended up encouraging me to return to the game after months of hiatus.
That said, I understand it's not for everyone, and I do think there should be an opt-out toggle in the settings, so that players don't get the pop-ups when they load into their game. I also hope they've managed to iron out the issues that were associated with the Reaper's Reward event, in preparation for upcoming ones. It's no fun not being able to participate because of bugs or glitches.
As long as these events give players plenty of time to complete them, in order to give more flexibility to players who work or care for their families etc, then I have no problem with them.

I enjoyed the event, but lived in fear of it breaking my game, as every time I came onto the forum, there was story after story of it! I think there should be a way to opt out of the event. I don't like having to update every single mod nearly every month for things they don't seem to fix when they update the game for another time to only break it again. Then throw a game breaking event into it and it makes you wonder if they want us to even still play it anymore. Sigh...

We'll see how involved this one is. I mean they may make it a simple log-in event like the Happy at Home because not everyone has seasons or celebrates holidays. Events definitely aren't for everyone, I know it's a time constraint for me with the holidays because I'll be either out with family or working most of the time. But they insist on doing events for free CAS/BB instead of SDX or including it in a patch.
I know the items from the first event ended up in late July and those items getting patched in with the September 30th patch because they know not all simmers were able to get the event to work. If EA could promise that all items from these events would eventually be patched in 2-3 months after the event ends, they'd get a better response from Simmers. It takes the pressure off those who don't want to play.

I am so grateful to the creators that updated their mods with each new patch/ update in a timely manner. I wouldn't play this game without all of my mods.
