Creating a "base save" game file

I've never done it myself. Everytime I try, I grow impatient and houses will become less and less detailed.

I've tried before as well, and gave up but this time I really want to finish what I started. Maybe you should do it too ;)

I have a fair amount of houses in my gallery but some I will need to update (with whatever new packs came after) and also, I want the styles to fit. At least in each neighbourhood.

I do it occasionally and set them up neighbourhood by neighbourhood. I like to make them thematic if I can too, so doing it a neighbourhood at a time was easier for me.

What type of styles were you looking to go with for each town/neighbourhood? Would be happy to recommend a few if I think they'll fit.

I started with Willow Creek yesterday since I thought approaching it neighbourhood by neighbourhood would make the most sense as well.
In there for example, the two most expensive neighbourhoods (the 2 on the left of the park) have a colonial style. And the households living there have/would have good jobs and a steady income.
Then the cheapest neighbourhood I want houses that are cheaper and also quirky. I am planning of having artists and aspiring mixologists/chefs. Mostly single sims or YA couples.
The neighbourhood in between (where the Pancakes originally live) I want it to be kind of suburban southern style. With families with kids and medium income households.

I have a lot of ideas and builds planned for Winderburg (since it's my favourite world and I've played there the most).
I plan on having Magnolia Promenade to be the most exclusive place in my worlds. Where 4 very affluent families live in mansions.

For the rest, I am really open for suggestions :)

Triumphal Arch - used as a lounge (I place this at the location where the Harbour Quarter Gym is in Windenburg)

Newcrest:
Newcrest Park
Paradise Pools

I place these two side-by-side, as I think they compliment each other so well.

I'll add more if I can think of them but these ones I put in almost all my saves.

Wow! Triumphal Arch is such a cool build!

The ones for Newcrest really look like they should be next to each other, I never build parks like that one, really inspirational, thanks so much!

I've been thinking about doing this, but I know that when I start it, I'll get bored after 2 to 3 houses :sweat_smile:

So far, what I did yesterday, everytime I felt like I was getting bored, I played with whatever household I was setting up (ageing off) for a couple of sim days, then back to building/planning, and so on. I tried to keep it dynamic jumping from one thing to another but staying focused on one neighbourhood at a time.
I fear I'll get bored before finishing my plan anyway and that's why I seek advice and tips.

I just recently did this, and updated all worlds including the vacation ones. I just used the save I had been playing, and added all my updated lots to my library. Then I started a new save and just placed them all in the same areas. To be fair I had been playing my old save for a long time, so everything had been built up slowly. If you have a save with lots that you like, it could save you some time by just reusing a bunch this way.
