I can't wrap my head around the fact that we can create over 1000 items!
Each category, bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces, has 12 designs each. That's a total of 48 designs.
We have 27 different crystals and 21 different metals.
The possibilities!
And knowing me I won't be satisfied until I've crafted them all. 😄

There really are a lot of items and designs that we can craft with Gemology! @simgirl1010 🙂 Like you, I was surprised when I heard about all the different ways materials could be combined and different types of jewellery made.
It may take you a long time to create them all! 🙂
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@simgirl1010 That's interesting to know. I was wondering how many it was. That's useful for another thread I was looking at. Thanks!

I found one useful thing for anyone wanting to use the jewellery a lot for any reason whether it's to stock a retail lot or just to make it available for other Sims and households. You can copy them by copying the room they are in and adding it to your library. So if you want to stock a retail lot or just add some to a new household you just need to place the room full of jewellery.
That's going to be handy for my non jewellery making Sims. I was able to add the items Lyra had made in to a tiny room, then I popped to Dana's apartment and placed the room, took the items out for Dana to wear and deleted the little room.

Ooh what an excellent suggestion @simsplayer818 . Thanks for sharing.
- rosemow2 years agoHero
That is very helpful @simsplayer818 🙂 It is a great way of sharing jewellery between families and also is a great way to store jewellery that sims have created. The rooms can also be used in other game saves.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@rosemow I was going to get my Spellcaster to copy them but they can't be restocked if Copypasto has been used, it causes an ash pile instead. I don't mind that with some things but I'm definitely going to want to restock the jewellery.

It is helpful to know about what happens when using copypasto on jewellery @simsplayer818 Saving them in rooms is great way for restocking jewellery in retail stores.

Isabel cutting a Jonquilyst into a seed shape for her crystal tree.
It would be nice if they wore safety glasses.
Whoa! That thing is huge! - rosemow2 years agoHero
It is a great that Isabel is making a seed shape to grow a crystal tree @simgirl1010 🙂 Crystal trees look very pretty in the sims gardens.
It would be good if they wore safety glasses.

Thanks @rosemow. I can't wait to see it grow. I think they're beautiful.
@simsplayer818 I wonder if the cloning machine from the scientist career would work?
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@simgirl1010 I think if my memory is correct I get ash piles from cloned items too. I have used them to copy things for stores though. I keep one handy to keep stocking afterwards. I've used it for Crystals too and it works.
I often have to pop into build mode and clear the ash piles lol.
I still haven't found any Amber 😞. I've got everything but that one and it's still told her she's completed the Crystal collection. - rosemow2 years agoHero
If your sim has level 10 handiness, Forgotten Grotto is often a good place to get rare crystals @simsplayer818
I hope that you find amber soon.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@rosemow I've looked in the Grotto but I usually camp there for a few days and keep collecting there as rocks continue to spawn. But I hadn't tried that because of her dog. I think I'll try it today and take supplies for Lyra and Emerald the poodle to go camping there...so far Emerald isn't keen on travel. Perhaps because he was a stray and now he likes his comfortable home!
- rosemow2 years agoHero
I hope that you do find amber when you have Lyra and Emerald camping there @simsplayer818 and that Emerald copes with the travelling okay. It is sad that he was a stray but it is good that he now has a nice home with Lyra to look after him.

@simsplayer818 I have tried copy pasto on self made jewellery and it worked in my game. I tested on necklaces, earrings and bracelets. I just copied it and tested if I could wear it. I did not test with restocking for a retail store
Every spell has a chance of failure, for copypasto failure destroys the original and turns it into a pile of ash. Maybe you just had bad luck with trying copypasto. There is a perk to prevent failure from spells.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@atreya33 the spell works absolutely fine. It's the actual restocking of the item that isn't possible. So once a copied item has been sold, they can't replace it. The staff member just produces an ash pile on the shelf where the sold item was.
But the spell itself is great for filling a store and rarely fails. I just pop back and carry on using it to stock the shop. - simgirl10102 years agoHero

Thankyou for sharing the link to the Jewellery guide @simgirl1010 🙂 It is very detailed, helpful and informative. It is great to see pictures of and read information about each design.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@simgirl1010 That's incredibly useful! It's going to help in another discussion I'm having about the content.
Thank yoooo! - simsplayer8182 years agoHero
This is odd and strangely annoying 🤔.
My Sim gets Burnout while gem cutting. Oh no! So far though it hasn't happened while jewellery making, just while cutting gems into shapes. Luckily she's only got 2 sets of 12 colours of shapes to make for her store. I really do not like Burnout at all!
- rosemow2 years agoHero
It is not good that your sim is getting burn out from cutting gems @simsplayer818 Perhaps you may need to make sure that all her needs are topped when she is going to do the gem cutting and that she also has extra positive moodlets.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@rosemow It's odd that it only seems to be the gem cutting. Her needs are high and she has the "Likes Gemology" like. I wish that moodlet solvers worked for it. She has the Hardly Hungry reward trait and the Seldom Sleepy reward trait too. She was all set to start working but after a while she became Dazed.
I'll try taking regular breaks from gem cutting and see if that helps. I'll top up her needs during her breaks too. - rosemow2 years agoHero
I am sorry that you are having this issue when your sim is cutting gems @simsplayer818
I tested it and it isn’t happening to my sim. It may perhaps depend on the traits that sims have? I am not sure.
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@rosemow Thanks so much for testing, I appreciate it.
