rostsit I agree, on the whole. I did a bunch of maxing out the skill then making jewelry that would help specific weaknesses/offer protection or amplify strengths, specifically for occult sims. However, I run big households generally, and babysitting the charging process was more annoying than it was worth in most cases. Plus I had one group of sims I got the 'stuck jewelry' bug (saving them to the library/gallery with the jewelry you make on them) and had a dickens of a time fixing that for a couple of them. However, I have found several aspects of the pack that I really like and use a lot:
- I noticed that if I have a charged piece of jewelry or charged crystal item in their personal inventory and I don't 'mount' it on them or drag it into the world, the charge remains full. Several things I will mention here factor this in.
- If I really like the look of a piece of jewelry on a particular sim I just make it and leave it on them. If I really want to use the 'power' aspect for them continually, I add that 'power' onto 2 or 3 (or more) pieces of jewelry I have for them (sometimes identical), and I rotate out charging them to try to always have one charged piece on them at all times without having to constantly watch for it. I will also sometimes keep a piece or 2 of charged jewelry for that 'power' in their personal inventory and not mount it on them until the one they are wearing is dead or until a situation arises or is a risk where they may need it.
- I try to remember to not have the jewelry mounted on them if I save them to the library/gallery. I'm not sure if this 'stuck' bug I mentioned is still a risk. Maybe someone will add that info.
- I make multiples of certain crystal items, normally in a shape that makes sense with their 'power' (ie: I make skull shaped ones with death protection). These I do keep charged and in their personal inventory or world to be able to pull out or rotate out as needed.
- Cheat death.
I make a bunch of rings of the same style that I know always has the 'death protection' power. I try to keep a charged one mounted on my sims, but not always by any means. However, I always keep an extra, charged ring with death protection not mounted and charged in each of their personal inventory. I also always keep one of my charged crystal skulls (with the death protection charge on it) in each of their personal inventory. Depending on how an impending death, risk of death, or death occurrence comes into play for my sim or for someone else with my sim, I'm almost always able to prevent, stop, or intervene (by dragging the charged skull into the world or mounting the charged death ring in their inventory). I would absolutely purchase the pack just to use for these purposes alone.
If you need some, I have a room in the gallery with some of these: Don't Die & Be Happy
