- kokoro809 years agoSeasoned VeteranI don't understand what you mean by a custom save?
- montello39 years agoNew AceI think they can be really handy if you want nice lots put together with one theme. I would recommend some of "Jenba"s saves, they don't contain any CC.
- I assume what you mean by a base save is that you set up the worlds the way you like with certain builds, and then use that save point to start playing different versions of saves from? I could see how that might be useful. I haven't gotten to that point yet myself though.
Is this a thing people share? I didn't know that. Kinda wish you could at least put whole worlds on the gallery now, lol. - LolaLuvsSims9 years agoSeasoned AceThanks @MrMonty96
@TheGoodOldGamer that's exactly what I mean and I wish we could share them as well. It'd be easy since we all have the exact same layout, like the apartments - PsychoSimXX9 years agoNew Spectator@ikiamyetta I do this very thing. I do not know about sharing the save files though. Not sure how it what I set up in my game would transfer to your game. True we all have the same basic layout but I have a lot of my own builds and I have created every single townie in my game. If what I am thinking is correct and someone wanted one of my set up files for their own game, they might have to download the lots I built and 300 some odd townies from my gallery in order for it to work right in there game. I'm not tech type of person so I don't know if this would be the case or not. That might be a question for @SimGuruNick though. He often uses save files from simmers to find problems in a game. At least that is what I am guessing because I have seen him ask for save files to help find solutions. Oh my if they would have me locked in a padded room if they could read every little thing I have done in my game...LOL
But having what I call set up files is VERY useful if you ever have to or want to start your game over without doing all the work you put into setting up a new game. I actually have more then one and I used them for various things. I have two main set up files at the moment. Ultimate Set Up and Set Up. There isn't much different between those two, other then Ultimate Set Up, is the one I recreating all the townie clubs I lost when the mod I used to enhance the built in club system broke and totally destroyed all I had done. So no more club mods for me. The Ultimate Set Up save has everything else the Set up file does. The premade that annoy me deleted, the sims from trailers that I wanted in my game, but weren't include. All the builds I have made that I play with and around 300 townies I made for game. So when I want to or have to start over I use those file to go off of. I will also backup my saves BEFORE installing a new patch or pack in case they get corrupted. I've had that happen to me more then once and had start over completely from scratch!!!
I also have other set up files I use for building and creating townies in. I have one that is just for the Sims with service job because you can edit them in one game, save them to your library and added them to a new game. They will spawn in your game as such providing it is a new game. - LolaLuvsSims9 years agoSeasoned Ace@GoddessSims you are one of the people who inspired me to start my "base save" The problem for me is making the townies. I want some variety but with townies I am just uninspired. Plus the sheer number I'll need is overwhelming.
- I've used a few of Jenba's and one or two I found from the creator of the drifter challenge that she (I think her name is Vehisa) made for lessthanzero from youtube. His drifter challenge videos have a link to that one. So far Jenba's are great.
@ikiamyetta I use sims from the gallery often when trying to populate my save files. It saves me the trouble of trying to vary my genetics a ton and also, I'm too lazy to make hundreds of sims to populate my own saves with. There's some awesome nocc sims uploaded on there. - PsychoSimXX9 years agoNew Spectator

I am glad I one of the ones who had inspired you!!! I love it when I do good things without even trying!!!
Yes it is overwhelming but I had been making my own townies since the release of the game. So didn't just sit town and make all of them at once. I also do it in spurts based what I feel I need in my game. I have the MC Command Center mod and I have the culling options to set so I have zero culling. Each time I get to point that I had finally made enough townies so the game stop producing those ugly creepy doll looking one the game produces if you have CC, they up limit and right now I have LOADS of creepy looking townies in my game. So ever since that started happening, I will remove all my CC and just let the game run and produce townies for me to edit to the way I want them to look. That was how I learned you can take the Sims with some of the service jobs and place them into new games and they will spawn as such. (c: I also learned that you can sort manipulate what jobs your own created townies will have by their aspirations. It works good for the ones you hire for when you have a party but they can pop up around your world in restaurants working a cook, bartender or comedian. So start off with what you need and go from there.
When I am in a rut I will browse the gallery for inspiration, usually for better ways of dressing my Sims, I will recreate my own just using the outfit I saw I liked. Sometimes that will spark a whole slew of them and sometimes it wont. At the moment I am letting the game I use to create random townies for one that like to hang out in the bar to see if will work in my actual game. That is because the bars are the lots in which my game produces more and more townies that I don't want. - SimplyJen9 years agoSeasoned AceI use Jenba's save file for Newlyn Hills (Newcrest) + Lynport (Magnolia Promenade) & Blythe Harbor (Willow Creek).

She's an awesome builder and I love pretty much everything she shares. Makes it easy for me because I don't build anymore. I started my own base save at one point pulling lots from the Gallery and giving some of the EA lots a makeover but it's too much work for how little I play Sims 4. I would rather have it done for me. - MDianaSims9 years agoSeasoned AceI did set up my own template save, but not all the builds have been replaced yet and I plan to make a slightly different template save with less Sims (my current template save has a default population of 131 Sims, excluding service NPCs, so that's a lot, you can do with far less, the official default save has 66 Sims at this moment).
I do have the builds that I already have on the Gallery, and I also have quite a number of Sims on there too, if you're interested.
