This is me right here. Ive honestly been very neutral to the idea of pronouns existing in the game. Their presence or lack thereof doesnt make any real difference in my game. I dont even see myself religiously using this feature since I really dont make sims that fall outside the gender binary.
Im not going to rally against new options to further diversify sims, but my attention is always going to be on new stuff for our sims to do and interact with. Im bored with the game right now. Our last pack was in the summer and since then we've had nothing but kits that dont add new gameplay mechanics. They're all cosmetic. And even if I were willing to buy kits, I'd probably still be bored. "Oh look another new chair for my sim to sit on. Whoopee a new shirt. Someone please help me contain my excitement."
Meanwhile Im still hopelessly hopeful for a new occult, simulation lag to get fixed, restaurants to work (I havent been able to run my restaurants without risking their rating tanking due to employees that refuse to come in) and a whole plethora of game fixes and updates. To be honest, Im far more excited at the hint of a possible romance/wedding pack than pronouns being added, since I can't help but think of what gameplay additions would make an appearance and what stories can come out of it. Honeymoons? Updated weddings? New romantic interactions? New world maybe? I'll literally take anything if it meant new things for our sims to do.
To the folks that are head over heels in love with confirmed pronoun development, more power to you. I know that this is important to alot of simmers and when it finally rolls out I hope its done in a way that's will be a happy medium for those that want it, and those that dont. This simmer just wants new gameplay. That's all.
I'm with you. The pronoun feature may be a dream come true for some players, and I'm happy they are getting it, but I can take it or leave it. Since it's going to be there I'll probably use it sometimes, but it's not something I particularly feel I need in the game. Likewise, none of the kits really interest me so I haven't bought them. Personally I'd rather have dragons, faeries and medieval content, but in the meantime I'll play with the game as it is when I feel the urge to play. I kind of overplayed it several times since reinstalling in September though, and ultimately got bored of my saves, so I'm taking a little break right now. - Player_srr5r59i4 years agoSeasoned Veteran

I once turned a male Sim female. I must hate men, right? No. Because it's a game and games aren't really supposed to be taken seriously. Especially one as wacky as this.
OMG are you SERIOUS?! Why couldn’t you just create a new FEMALE sim?? I know you say you’re not, but you’re a man hater. Just like everybody else in the world. Plus you just ruined my game.

This... this made me giggle. - OEII10014 years agoSeasoned AceSounds great. I'm sure that a lot of players have wanted to customize their pronouns, and I am glad they're getting that. And since the pop-up label on hover was just a fan mock-up, that addresses my singular concern about box size growth of said pop-up.
Nice job, devs. - Reddestiny9214 years agoLegendI don't really care as long as its a quick thing in cas I prefer to include everyone. So just as people can play with it you should be able to ignore it too. Like when I pick and choose which guy can get pregnant and when I don't need it at all who cares.
- bshag4lv4 years agoSeasoned AceThanks to EA_Cade, that clarifies things more. Now I don't have to point out that while others are welcoming this change, some of us old dinasaurs do not want these labels. As many others gave said, as long as there is a way of toggling this feature off in our games, that's okay with me. It's a nice gesture that doesn't make others accept this change, regardless.

When a professional team of game developers decides to share work in progress with their player base I would like to think that they’re open to any constructive feedback that player base may want to give based on said WIP.
This, 1000 times this. That is nearly the entire purpose of my job here. Tag me, spam me with messages with links, GIVE ME YOUR FEEDBACK ON THIS. ON EVERYTHING.
Speaking on the behalf of Aliens and vampires in the game I am looking forward to being enabled to be given our proper titles. We only used the given ones out of respect to our inferior race and prey on whose planet we have invaded! o:) >:) :D - Thanks @EA_Cade for sharing some of the process! much appreciated!
I am cis, but I have a couple of non-binary sims, who will appreciate having an alternative to male or female pronouns as soon as the feature becomes available. They do not have an opinion on whether or not their pronouns are visible in Live Mode.
I'm guessing there are plenty of simmers like me who feel positive about the change and maybe aren't writing as much as those who are annoyed at it (or annoyed at what they imagine/worry it might be).
FYI to @Sthenastia @Stormkeep and others who think pronouns next to names appear only in tiny corners of twitter: Probably about 70%-80% of my RL work contacts (including coworkers and colleagues) put their pronouns next to their names in their email signatures, and in other places where names are listed. Pronouns are normally included on nametags at work events where people are first meeting each other (or they were, before the pandemic). I am not a professional activist or anything like that, either. - JaggidEdje4 years agoSeasoned Ace

I find that interesting, as I've never seen it and I am a working professional too. What field are you in?
Either way, it doesn't make sense for it in the game to appear on the nametags because we, the player, never use the pronouns. The game uses them, but we do not...ever. Unless we are sharing a story outside of the game, but at that point the name tag isn't relevant anyway. Most of us hide headline effects for screenshots.
We don't need them as yet one more thing cluttering up the interface because we, as players, will never actually use them while playing. So it just doesn't make a lot of sense, to me, to include them there.
I've already said though, I also wish they'd remove the lifestage, club and celebrity status from the nametags as well. I just don't like "information clutter" in live mode. "mightysprite;c-18040602" wrote:

Honestly it depends where you live too. Im in U.S. I have never seen pronouns displayed in that way outside of instagram or other social media. Only once on someones face mask.- PhantasmKiss4 years agoSeasoned Ace1. I love the idea of being able to set pronouns.
2. Somebody please explain those pronouns being "next to their name," as I no longer have time to watch livestreams. I'd like to see the he/her/they in Notifications, but not next to every appearance of a Sim's name in the game.
