If you dislike having to start in CAS every time you want to start a new save/game, you might want to take some time and create a template save. I did this, it did take some time, but I basically created a save file with the empty lots filled, including Newcrest, and corrected a few missing and mislabeled lots in the game. I edited the pre-build sims in the game (mostly men, body hair cc).
So, now if I want to start over again, I can just load that save file up, click save as, and rename it, then load whatever sim or sims I want into the game to begin a new play. One note, I did find with the new file save system it's best to have 1 household marked as played when you save. What I did was start the template with a random sim placed him/her on a lot (used the empty lot Pebble Burrow) then evicted them and deleted the household from the household manager. And now I had a clean save with all the lots I like in my game and ready to go. The last thing I did was click on the Johnny Zest lot to make that my played household, I find with the new game save system, you always want to have one household marked as played when you save it else it might overwrite another save file.
