DELETING YOUR SAVED GAME

Does anyone know if it's possible to delete whatever saved game you have now?? I want to delete the household I'm playing with and start completely over. I know that there is a "Saves" folder. Is it safe to go in there and wipe everything out?? I don't want to do anything drastic without finding out first.

Thanks!

  • Anything you shared to the actual gallery will be available for you to re-add to your library. If it's just in your library it will not transfer to the new computer. So if there's any builds or sims you want to take with you to the new computer either upload them to the gallery or back up your tray file folder to a jump drive or something and simply replace the new tray file that pops up when you install the game with the old one. You can also do this with save files if you want to keep a current save file going on the new computer. Just back up your saves file and replace the new one with the old one.

Also, when you click "Load" at the top of the main menu, you can delete any unwanted save games right there.

You have got to be kidding! *slaps head* Oh well .... I'll know for next time now. :p

Thanks for your responses, guys. :)

It doesn't or shouldn't mess anything up. I got a wild hair recently, and pulled the saves folder out. I was tired of what I perceived as 'clutter' in there. Since the naming of the files is far different from other iterations and also from inside the game itself, it's hard to know which save is which. Getting rid of the saves folder allowed me to start 'fresh' as it were. I have not had any negative repercussions from doing so. Also, if you go through CAS and have your desired family saved to your library, you can simply replace the Sim in CAS with your family from the library. I, too, use the fresh game button upon occasion. But, generally, that's if I wish to keep the old save, should I change my mind. I did that after Parenthood came out.
  • If you dislike having to start in CAS every time you want to start a new save/game, you might want to take some time and create a template save. I did this, it did take some time, but I basically created a save file with the empty lots filled, including Newcrest, and corrected a few missing and mislabeled lots in the game. I edited the pre-build sims in the game (mostly men, body hair cc).

So, now if I want to start over again, I can just load that save file up, click save as, and rename it, then load whatever sim or sims I want into the game to begin a new play. One note, I did find with the new file save system it's best to have 1 household marked as played when you save. What I did was start the template with a random sim placed him/her on a lot (used the empty lot Pebble Burrow) then evicted them and deleted the household from the household manager. And now I had a clean save with all the lots I like in my game and ready to go. The last thing I did was click on the Johnny Zest lot to make that my played household, I find with the new game save system, you always want to have one household marked as played when you save it else it might overwrite another save file.

How do u delete saved contents on Xbox one??
I'm very angry for not knowing

    Hello @HayleyUtley12
It may be best to post your question on a thread in the console section of the forums. Simmers there may be able to assist you

  • *Update 2020*

To delete a saved game, console:

    1. Load Game - Any game at all.
    2. Once loaded in, go to options and choose the save option as you would upon exiting the game.
    3. The save screen will pop up, “Autosave”, “Saved Game 1” etc.
    4. Scroll down to which game you wish to delete and press “triangle” / “Y”
    5. “Are you sure you wish to continue?” / “Are you sure you wish to delete?”
    6. Yes.
    7. Repeat, until you’re satisfied

Hope this works for anyone who’s still curious <3

  • @EA_Mai And this one too please? This one seems to have been reawakened several times
  • Yep, closing.

The game has changed a lot since 2014 (including the main menu), so better open a new thread if you have questions around how to manage your saves.
