Details on thought bubbles?

Has anyone dissected the thought bubbles? I'd love to understand more about what they mean. Are they OVERALL feelings or like the game itself, are they simply how Sims feel at that moment? Are they both? For example, when a Sims is talking to a good friend they get the Yellow Heart. I assume this means friendship - but does that mean forever or just at that moment? It can be interpreted two ways: 1) Having a good conversation with a friend and 2) I like you as a friend and not in a romantic way. It would be nice to know for sure. It's clear Sims have "wants and desires" and are attracted to other Sims for various reasons. Yes, you can force a relationship, but I like to play organically and let my Sims guide the way.

  • Oh my thank goodness. Ive been going crazy about the yellow stick figure and ball. Ive never seen a sims eyes get so big and frightened. She puts both hands over her mouth. Its also weird that she gets a "watch" action but its a round picture... Of herself.
It has been unnerving me. It makes me wish she could be held.

The only thing i do know is who and what the figure and ball is. Its the symbol for "Critters from the Mauven Forest" in get famous each gig, tv series, film has a picture and its that ones. I also know the critters are associated with the playful emotion. (Playful is like a sweat poison for a sims psyche. Awful business)
I thought perhaps a tv was on playing it. I swore she was looking at something. I tried to follow her eyes very afraid to see what she sees. But im not sure shes reacting from what she sees.
I dont know if im the only one unsettled by this. Ive always been a big wuss so it could be me. But im obsessed at finding the reason. Her wife and her have a toddler. I should add. But alot has happened all st once i got alot of packs at the same time during the sale. So its hard to pin point. Sorry to go on so deeply. And thank you for allowing me to. The very best of luck to you all.
  • Hi, everyone! I find this thread really interesting and thanks for the insight. I watched my actor interact with the director and prodcucer after the gig (autonomously) and I saw the producer with a red line through my sims face! LOL. Also I saw a sun with a Line through it, the director had a wine glass and cheese, the producer ( good friend of my actor sim) with a rain cloud. The director had a house, a temperature gauge and books. I've also seen other sims talking and gravestones appear. This morning right after my couple woohooed one of them got a green or blue face just for a second. Their relationship is fine with four positive sentiments. Deeply in love, smitten etc... Phew! Trying to work out what it all means. Some are obvious but the last one I mentioned is bothering me with my couple. I hope it was a good one! They are very rich celebrities living at Chateau Peak in Del Sol. Not much should worry them! Thanks if anyone can help me here. I'm now obsessed with watching though bubbles!

I like looking at the thought bubbles sometimes, but I don't know, I think they sometimes don't mean anything.
I had a kid talk about her favorite animal and Jellyfish would pop up, then another animal would come up and she'd wave her hands in a gesture like "they're okay," then jellyfish would come up again and she'd continue talking. I like to interpret that as something kinda like "Jellyfish are pretty cool. Bears? No, Jellyfish is where it's at." :D
Sometimes when you see new people on the sidewalk, they'll have a hand truck in their bubble, so it's like they're saying or asking if they've moved in. The most common one is definitely when they talk about bills being a thing, because a stack of papers/the icon for bills comes up as they complain about them.
The only instance where I'd like to believe thought bubbles meant something out of interactions was when a sim of mine had his ex swing by when he invited his current significant other. To be told, they never really broke up, just sort of drifted apart (so his pink bar was like 0).
With his current lover, he had a son who just became a teen at the time.
His ex came by and kept yelling at him, even though he wasn't in an angry mood, or have any traits that'd encourage those actions. (He was Insane, Perfectionist, and Romantic.) What was pretty cool was that his bubbles kept having the icon of a bassinet, a dresser, and a garbage can as he yelled at him. I like to interpret that as "Did you think I wouldn't know you had a kid? Tell me or I'll throw all your clothes away in the trash," or something along those lines. It was a pretty intense fight. :D They ended up not breaking it off cleanly still, but he just never associated with him afterward either.

There are some times where I don't think it means anything, though. I was watching some sims once, and one persistently had a garbage can icon when they were talking, and the other would be like heart, following the icon for "morning sim," then the garbage can guy had that "loves outdoors" icon. What.

    He???
  • @Dantdmfan I'm chuckling reading your story. Mine have all got pretty calm good traits, so people tend to find my sims obliging and nice. Never had any divorces or drama really. Perhaps my game is a bit boring, but I need my sims to be liked because they're celebrities and need to get on with Directors and Producers. Strangely, I gave him the a different trait this morning and got a few bad signs on other sims' heads! I think I'll send him to his gigs as nice with a confident emotion in future! I don't think he'll be winning an award this week! LOL. One of my sims got an award for being nice and giving 110%, so the traits must be crucial. Sometimes their Moodlets override sad emotions or anger. One of my sims died and the parents' sad emotion was over-ridden by living such a happy life!

I guess he wondered if he might be the once and future king.

I have seen that and it made me laugh. I suspect it means 'conquered' !

I love the thought bubbles. I am bit sad that when you toggle the UI off, it also toggles the bubbles off

Why would Liberty, my Sim Self's wife be showing this thought bubble towards him? There was a apologise interaction before i took this photo and an option to ask "what their problem is?" and she told him she his annoyed by him but i didn't see any interactions before hand to make her feel that way.

I love thought bubbles, it gives me a chance to interpret what that sim is thinking. Sometimes it is very challenging when they have the red circle and bar across a family member's face, but I like to think that's in the moment.
