I love how the little side story makes Strangerville feel distinctive. Honestly, I didn't find the weirdness too obvious before I started it. Yeah, there's still the odd plants here and there, and you see some possessed sims walking around, but it wasn't shoved in my face either. It only really starts ramping up as you progress through the investigation. I feel like they did a good job of scripting it but still leaving me wiggle room in determining how I went about investigating and finishing it. And when I do it again, I can try a different way than I did this time.
For me, I prefer it this way. I miss how in Sims 2 the premades and the neighborhoods felt like they had their own story and it made it easier for me to play in. My imagination works best when I have a framework to work with; I know that isn't true for everyone, but it is for me. I wouldn't mind if they did another pack similar to this one. I don't advocate making this the only way they do things, but I don't think it'll be a bad thing if they do something similar down the line.
