I actually hated the Superstar expansion in TS1, but Get Famous is okay, somewhere in the middle in my EP ranking, because I'm not that much into celebrities personally, not in real life either. Objectively speaking, though, I'd say it fares a lot better, being one of the few EPs that...
1) can actually influence the entire sim world if you let it (unlike others, which you'll only ever notice in specific worlds),
2) come with actual gameplay instead of just pretty-looking set dressing, and
3) present a real challenge, because becoming a global superstar isn't quite as easy as I feared it would be.
I have a few sims (mainly artists) that are famous in my game, but I can't play with them for long (at least not outside of their home lots) because it gets on my nerves how fans and paparazzi never leave them alone. But that's realistic, I guess.
