Ooh, it would be really cool if the milestones acted as a memory system as @IceyJ mentioned. I sadly feel like the pictures are made specifically for the trailer, but I would love to be wrong! Regardless, I really like the addition of milestones since they can act as memories even if they are not officially memories in the game. I always fill my family homes with pictures to remember holidays, vacations, events, etc. I'm very happy to find out there will be many more special moments officially added into the game with the new expansion pack <3
