Did you guys notice all the memory type photo frames throughout the video?

The photos in the trailer look nice and make the houses feel more lived in. But I assumed that they were set dressing or a cinematic way of changing scenes. Has it been confirmed that the photos are a gameplay feature and a result of milestones?
