Disabilites and Supernaturals

This thread could be considered as an spin-off of:
https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/948274/disabilities-for-sims-4-tea-leaves-are-leaning-to-yes#latest

As I no want go off-topic at such theme (than is going quite proud)

As at that theme was talking about disabilities, as @SimGuruGraham started at twitter that theme, I was thinking how would work (or no) with occult life states:

Vampires:
Here I have 2 main lines
1 - Vampires at TS3 had ability of scan a zone and select the best sims. Then at TS4 would be than vampires no drink and cant convert, disabled sims (of any state)

2 - This other option by the way would be than vampires also can be disabled people. In this case, unable to buy Bat form, super-speed and mist

Aliens:

They cant birth disabled, even no alien babies from male abductions.
Also, as sixam has a quite advanced technology, after an abduction against a disabled sim, there is a chance (10% maybe) than aliens cure your disability!

Future occults:

Those than usually change form, if disabled, lose the shape-shifting ability, then always "stuck" at their human-like form, even for disabled mermaids when enter at water!

PD: as I commented in the other thread, Im thinking here than the only disability introduced is physical... wheelchair, no mental

Supernaturals are not going to have disabilities. That is silly. Vampires are undead - they can't be disabled.

Vampires are inmortal at TS4, also sure fairies will be inmortal
But what about non-inmortal life-states? They certainly can have disabilities (except aliens due their far advanced technology)

I don't see why they couldn't have disabilities. Considering how Vampires and Fairies and the like don't actually, really EXIST, we don't exactly have examples. However many vampires used to be human. We've no evidence becoming vampire would cure that. And what about mental disabilities? I don't suppose becoming a Vampire will make your Autism vanish.

People are always saying stuff about how Disabilities will offend disabled people but from what I can tell, most players with disabilities would rather it's realistic than tasteful. In fact one of the things I've noticed people with disabilities get offended about, including myself, is magical 'cures'.
  • From a gameplay perspective, I do think there should not be any "Condition", be it a disability or a disease or an occult status, that you're stuck with it once you have it. I don't think the fact that the Zombie was permanent in Sims 2 was really popular.
From a realism standpoint, I do agree that there are disabilities that people are stuck with forever, but others are curable. The cure doesn't have to be magical, though. Training and therapy could do the trick. And for those that imagine the disability to be permanent, just don't visit any or not the correct therapy.

From a business perspective, the cure or mitigation you say, should be a Disabilities GP instead a free patch

Maybe we'll get elevators or stairlifts?

Also, wanna know some conditions I'm stuck with?

    Shortsightedness.

    Epilepsy.

    Autistic Spectrum disorder.

    Prosopagnosia.

And don't forget people with cystic fibrosis, or children with learning disorders. People who are blind or deaf. If I could just snap my fingers, I rather think I would.
  • I just bit my hand really hard. I wasn't looking for a fight. I was just stating an opinion.
I don't even agree they should do disabilities at all if this is such a sensitive topic, because no matter how they do it, people will be offended.
When they make them incurable, people who play with disabled sims and want to un-disable them for their story will hate that. When they make them curable... Well, you already mentioned that there are more people that think like you.
I do have mild autism and PTSD. And I overcame a depression a few years ago. My eyesight isn't the best either.
And my sisters Ex sits in a wheelchair because of an accident and will remain in that wheelchair for the rest of his life.
So I am no stranger to the topic.

I am not offended by the fact that there are multiple (!!!) ways to bring dead Sims back to life in Sims 4.
I lost my mother at age 4, and I have seen her corpse at the funeral, and I watched my father die at age 15.
Still, I am not offended that it is possible to undie in the Sims. I don't use this features, but I am not offended they exist.

I got a bit personal here, and we have gone off topic. Sorry about that.
    We can stay civil, right?

    Edited for content. - EA_Cian
  • Given the fact supernaturals in Sims 3 couldn’t even (ice)skate, I’d prepare myself for the possibility they can’t be disabled either. It might be for the same reason why they rather don’t implement hybrids either.
