Yes, I am agreeing Maxis is the original creator. At the very bottom of this website page.. they have the Maxis logo. But if I remember right there was some shenanigans about it in 3 (the logo), but I will be a good girl.
I bought the last SP, my kids slept and I never saw the monster under the bed thingy. I think I played them 1 sim week and grew very bored and stopped playing. I just can not play Sims 4 like the earlier games... I have been fighting myself as to whether I should download Sims 3 again..XD miss those long hours of simming!
Hehe. I'm unaware of the shenanigans, but I don't doubt they existed. I only just started playing S3 and never followed anything during its run. I do see Maxis at the bottom of this page, but I feel it's a teeny-weeny bit of a lie these days.
EDIT: going to try to sleep again. Bloody humidity makes it hard."kremesch73;14992791" wrote:

-points to bottom of thread page- They still use it. I could say what I think about why they still use it.. but I will restrain myself. If I remember right (too hot to sleep and I am sleepy) they took up using it again in Sims 3.
Hot here too. I feel your pain, and I have to work in the morning. Going to be a zombie all day.
They do still use it in 3, but I don't think they changed their name until recently. I don't recall what they use in 4. I haven't fired it up for some time. What I do know, or at least what I recall as I don't really follow the history much is this: Will Wright was in charge of Sims 1 and Sims 2 until the end. Rod Humble took over near the end of Sims 2. That's when it started to fall apart, but I'll refrain from that bit as things could've been much worse. Since then, Rachel took that lead? Now I think it's someone else, but I'm not sure. It's getting too confusing for my poor brain and I don't really care, tbh. I'm more into the gaming experience than the politics of it all.
I just wanted to clarify that Maxis is the original developer. They never did take over. That much I'm certain of.
Will Wright left The Sims after The Sims Bustin Out. He did not work on The Sims 2 at all, and was not credited. Out of respect, the Devs asked Will Wright for advice.
This could be argued even if it was still advice. And I am not going to argue the point with the exception that Will Wright's ideas are still shown in mass of Sims 2 and his own creation of Sims 1. Sims 3 was a whole new story, but far removed from Sims 1 and 2.
There is a drastic change when going into Sims 3. The family life of 2 was the a huge add but still you could see Sims 1 in Sims 2 (done as should be in my opinion and it still resembled the original).- I like to put the lamp above the bed of my older children, and let the younger ones have the monster. It does some kind of more gradual aging with the younger having nightmares, and waking up the parents at night, while the older ones are more mature :)

Aren't there 2 kids night lights that disable monsters not only the cocala one? I want the night light to fit in with the room and not stick out like an eyesore.
No, that's the only nightlight that gets rid of the monsters under the bed.
Also, this thread is two years old and you're not supposed to necro threads. - I haven't found it yet, that would be useful.
- There's a nightlight in the lights that prevents monsters and you can get a teen+ sim to spray all the beds in the room before the kids go to bed as well

Yes, there is a lamp with a monster on it you can put in the child's room to keep monsters away.
Thank you!"Raven_Cat;14992385" wrote:

I've tried doing that but it seems they keep showing up later anyway :|- If you don't want to use the lamp, you can use this mod http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=579595
