Yes, there is a lamp with a monster on it you can put in the child's room to keep monsters away.
Thank you!

Hot here too. I feel your pain, and I have to work in the morning. Going to be a zombie all day.
They do still use it in 3, but I don't think they changed their name until recently. I don't recall what they use in 4. I haven't fired it up for some time. What I do know, or at least what I recall as I don't really follow the history much is this: Will Wright was in charge of Sims 1 and Sims 2 until the end. Rod Humble took over near the end of Sims 2. That's when it started to fall apart, but I'll refrain from that bit as things could've been much worse. Since then, Rachel took that lead? Now I think it's someone else, but I'm not sure. It's getting too confusing for my poor brain and I don't really care, tbh. I'm more into the gaming experience than the politics of it all.
I just wanted to clarify that Maxis is the original developer. They never did take over. That much I'm certain of."EmmaVane;14992403" wrote:

There's a nightlight in the lights that prevents monsters and you can get a teen+ sim to spray all the beds in the room before the kids go to bed as well
I've tried doing that but it seems they keep showing up later anyway :|
Do you keep the nightlight on, or do you turn it off? Turning it off will deactivate it's monster scaring powers. It only works while it's on.
I noticed that, haha. And apparently it has to be over each bed? I only had one in a room with two beds and the monster kept showing up under the other one.
But what I was speaking of, was spraying the monsters away. I kept making my adult sim spray under the bed and when the kids would finally get back to sleep it would show up again.... oh well. The light works. Thanks. :)- SilentK008Seasoned NewcomerI think the monster will be nerfed in a coming patch, that we see a lot of it now and then it will be considerable less. Personally I like the monster a lot, it just comes by a little bit too often. Will the the little ones be frightened and then the ones who are almost teens either get the lamp or they will have become friends with the monster.

Yes and I am always thinking that they use Maxis as a logo now and the real Maxis team has long been gone.
They are long gone. Only a small remnant of them remains. Do they still use the logo? I thought the studio's name was changed to something like SimsStudio, or something like that. Rod Humble was the one who took over for S3 from Will Wright. That much I know.

Yes, I am agreeing Maxis is the original creator. At the very bottom of this website page.. they have the Maxis logo. But if I remember right there was some shenanigans about it in 3 (the logo), but I will be a good girl.
I bought the last SP, my kids slept and I never saw the monster under the bed thingy. I think I played them 1 sim week and grew very bored and stopped playing. I just can not play Sims 4 like the earlier games... I have been fighting myself as to whether I should download Sims 3 again..XD miss those long hours of simming!"@gamekitten;14992754" wrote:

They still use it because the company hasn't changed, just the people in it.
EA got Maxis to work on Spore, and EA renamed the Sims team "TheSimsStudio" in 2005 and moved it out of Maxis.
In 2013, EA moved TheSimsStudio back under Maxis, so now TheSimStudio exists within Maxis.
It's the same team since The Sims launched, people have left, people have come.
And TheSimsStudio is the same team, it's just simply if The Sims come under Maxis, or EA."@kremesch73;14992761" wrote:

Will Wright left The Sims after The Sims Bustin Out. He did not work on The Sims 2 at all, and was not credited. Out of respect, the Devs asked Will Wright for advice.- No wonder my kids were still waking up the night light was turned off. Thanks for the link @rosemow that was very helpful.

Ok, thank you.
Also, I'm new here so I don't know what necroing threads are?
Basically it means bringing a thread back that hasn't been active for a long time. It's against the rules to do so but sometimes it happens anyway. Welcome to the forums!
