Shrewd trait is money cheat killer. Disappointment? Absolutely not! It's one of the stellar design decisions in this game!
Finally any player who refuses to cheat has ingame "legal" mechanics to get filthy rich fast.
There had to be some limit on the cash total, and if you check all item prices then 10 million limit isn't bad at all, I don't know how decorated your house should be to come even near 10 millions.
Maybe when new careers get added (which means automatically more items to unlock) the cap will go higher, but IMO 10 millions is currently okay.
