I enjoy classes myself but honestly, I'm ok with the rabbit hole aspect of this. I mentioned it elsewhere but I think it would get repetitive with a rotation. I probably wouldn't want to sit through two sims doing the same degree and class.
I played TS2 University where the classes were rabbit holes. Even then, I remember only sending two sims to university because I didn't want to go through all of the same stuff again. Nothing against TS3 but it was really more focused on playing a single sim or household per save and that sim or those sims were the focus for the player. In that light, it was more about experiencing things with one sim or a few sims. Replayability is less of an issue with that style.
I think they didn't cut corners on the world and they tried to give players a way to build their own apartments or dorms through altering settings. It's a better world than what came with GTW, example. I could do without the pranking but that's for other players.
It's a way of building up skills and creating sims with different financial situations. I think I'll be happy. If someone really wants, they can probably create simulated "active" classes with clubs or the university organizations.
