Discover University Summer Break

So, I've had Discover University for a while but I've always had my sims run every term back to back. I'm considering trying something different - having them not sign up a new term immediately and instead take a week off between terms to represent "summer break."

Has anyone else tried that and what kind of experiences have you had with it?

  • Only good experiences. It really adds to the atmosphere if the college kids return to their families or go on trips together. Police Academy students get to dip into the detective career, archaeologists and related majors go to Selvadorada...

That said, I strictly curate my students: I only ever have the actually played household enrolled at uni (usually five students in a residential lot outside campus) and don't care about townies that may or may not graduate while my played sims live their lifes.

When you choose not to enroll immediately after the end of term, your sims will lose their scholarships, have to apply again and need to wait a day for the results, so keep that in mind when planning their schedule.
  • I did it once, it does make things interesting, and my sim also used that time off to explore different things they can explore, such as what @EnkiSchmidt said.
  • I like to get it done fast and sweet. Back-to-back-to-back Three terms and they're done. Just registered my 'kids' for their third and last term. I AM FINALLY HERE! Birthdays fall this week, three in a row (four, if you count that Brianna and Kayleigh will both age up on the same day) and then it's on with their lives. No delay. I have no clue what I would do with them, were I to take a break. I have a wedding to plan, for as soon after graduation as is possible for this old lady to manage. LOL
