You could either skip that item and go straight to "Tell the Director you are ready to perform" or fast forward the process carefully as they get their makeup and hair done first. Then, get some of the other items completed. Btw, you could also skip some stuff like, "Gossip with an actor" or "Eat a meal" in order to finish faster. It is too bad that there is no option to extend the time like in the other careers where you go to work with the Sim, though.
